LGV & PCV Driver Training

Best Log Driver CPC Training

There are two parts to the driver CPC which affect either new drivers or existing license holders and depending upon their individual circumstances will determine how they acquire the Driver CPC.

New Drivers
For new drivers acquiring a vocational entitlement (C, C1, C1+E, C+E and D, D1, D+E, D1+E) after the 10th September 2008 (PCV drivers) and 10th September 2009 (LGV drivers) will have to obtain an initial CPC in addition to their licence.

Existing Drivers
Existing drivers who already hold a vocational licence on the 10th September 2008 (PCV drivers) and 10th September 2009 (LGV drivers) are exempt from the initial CPC. This is known as 'acquired rights'. However, in order to maintain their Driver CPC, all category C and D licence holders (including C, C1, C1+E, C+E and D, D1, D+E, D1+E) are required to undertake 35 hours Periodic Training every 5 years, which is effective from the dates above.

Periodic Training
Best Log can offer the required Periodic Training for individuals and groups at competitive rates. We have a bespoke training facility, fully qualified trainers and excellent parking facilities. We can arrange for food to be brought in, or for those candidates requiring a hot meal, there is a large McDonalds and Supermarket with restaurant facilities some 5 minutes walk from the training centre.

As Transport operators ourselves, we understand the cost implications associated with training in our industry. As a result, there are no hidden charges in our prices. The costs of registration, upload of all drivers details to Jaupt (the governing body) and all course handouts are included, neither do we charge any extra for training at weekends.

For all existing drivers, the Driver CPC must be completed by;

  • Bus & Coach Drivers - 9 September 2013
  • HGV Drivers - 9 September 2014
