Certificate of Professional Competence - CPC

Drivers are required by law to hold a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive buses, coaches, Commercial HGVs, LGVs with a weight capacity over 3.5 tonnes or the vehicle is capable of carrying 9 or more passenger seats.

Driver CPC Application Process

A full Driver CPC is required if you drive an HGV, LGV, lorries, bus or coach as the main part of your job and the driving role are not except.

Driver CPC Exemptions

DVSA deal with the CPC exemption and enforcement of the Driver CPC, they implement and monitor transport policy law.

Driver CPC Parts 3 & 4 Test

You must have passed the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) part 1 and 2 theory test before you can book the Driver CPC Test part 3 and 4.

Driver CPC Periodic Professional Training

Driver CPC training is continuing professional development. Drivers will have to complete a minimum of 35 hours of Jaupt approved training every 5 years.

Driver CPC Scope & Syllabus

Driver CPC was a new Qualification that came into effect for Bus & Coach drivers on 10 September 2008 and for HGV/LGV drivers on 10 September 2009.
